A logo design and visual identity for NYU Tandon Muslim Students Association. The logo features a sleek, modern design

The NYU Tandon Muslim Students Association is a club at NYU dedicated to providing students the opportunity to come together in a Muslim environment with the goal of learning about Islam, its faith, and its practices. All students and community members are welcome to MSA activities and events.

Usage

Event flyers designed for Facebook event covers and email newsletters.

Design

The Problem, after NYU had completed the transition of their Engineering school’s new branding, the MSA needed a logo that was equally modern and recognizable. The old logo was utilizing the now-defunt green and purple color scheme of Polytechnic University along with a background image that could not be scaled for different platforms.
My solution was to create a brand new logo that was modern and more inline with NYU Tandon’s new branding, but also one that was unique and timeless and could stand on it’s own. I used typography inspired by NYU’s wordmark, utilizing the Gotham type family. I also created a symbol of a mosque and minaret, which represents the large Muslim community at Tandon and NYU. Finally, I incorporated a subtle purple gradient which is a callback to NYU’s signature purple, but warmer and more inviting.
