The goal was to create a warm and welcoming experience, like the feeling of coming home, while also providing some additional non-intrusive functionality where possible. The result was a dynamic, lightweight, and playful animated screensaver that serves multiple functions. Each screen must be carefully designed to be as intuitive and efficient as possible – while also looking great.&nbsp;In this project, I was tasked with giving the Intercom's UI a new coat of paint – one that brought the entire experience inline with the company's new branding and direction and created harmony with all of ButterflyMX's products and services. Goals Update visual language to match new hardware design and company branding Improve UX and simplify interaction patterns where possible Improve responsiveness and support for multiple screen sizes Striking a BalanceAs the new version of the software was going to run on both our new and existing intercoms, it was crucial for the design to be cohesive and modern, while also being fully backwards-compatible. While we wanted to give the whole experience a modern facelift and improve the usability, we also didn't want to diverge too much from the existing patterns and leave our daily users feeling confused and lost. Process First we started with inspiration. We wanted to look at all of our existing and new products as a family and see how to push that direction forward. We also wanted to look at what else was out there and pull inspiration from both new and classic technologies and design elements. The ButterflyMX OS and Mobile app both had received recent redesigns/refreshes, so that was one of the main points of reference for design elements and overall consistency.&nbsp; We experimented with several different approaches to the design, as well as many options for new and updated features and functionality. Final Results&nbsp; 1. New modern visual design to match new product hardware, industrial design language, and company branding 2. Improved responsiveness for multiple screen sizes and formats 4. ButterflyMXProject ········· UX/UI DesignDate ······ January 2021 Design for a feature addition to the ButterflyMX App. This is the first third-party integration available for ButerflyMX’s users.&nbsp; Goal Provide a seamless and convenient way for tenants who live in a building with both ButterflyMX access control and SALTOKS smartlocks to open and manage their doors through one app.&nbsp; Prototype (iOS) The smartlock integration was a significant project because it is the first time we are adding an external integration into our mobile app. It is also meant to replicate the functionality of SaltoKS' existing app. Because of this, I was tasked with designing a way for users to view and access available integrations and add them seamlessly, and also recreate the SaltoKS experience in our app with all of it's functionality while retaining our app's unique style and familiarity for users. The old logo was utilizing the now-defunt green and purple color scheme of Polytechnic University along with a background image that could not be scaled for different platforms.&nbsp; My solution was to create a brand new logo that was modern and more inline with NYU Tandon’s new branding, but also one that was unique and timeless and could stand on it’s own. I used typography inspired by NYU’s wordmark, utilizing the Gotham type family. I also created a symbol of a mosque and minaret, which represents the large Muslim community at Tandon and NYU.
